Robert Jackamonis Obituary

Robert "Hickey" Jackamonis of Burlington passed away peacefully in his sleep while enjoying Ocean City, NJ on Tuesday at the age of 85. He was born in Mt. Pleasant, PA and was a longtime Burlington resident. Robert was a US Army Veteran of the Korean War. He worked for and retired from the Joint Base Dix/McGuire as a Commissary Butcher. Hickey, as everyone called him was well known and enjoyed his outings to the casino, dancing, playing cards at the boat club with the "boys", bowling and collecting coins. He served with the City of Burlington Fire Department and was an NJ State Exempt Fireman. Hickey was a proud father and uncle who was over the moon when his daughter was elected Mayor of the City of Burlington. He enjoyed being updated on her Facebook page inquiring who from his family was updating pictures or post. He looked forward to seeing the post shared and truly loved when she had photos of family and friends to share. Hickey also loved kids and to his nieces and nephews, he was often referred to as Uncle Dollar as he always had dollars in his pocket in case he saw them. Hickey was predeceased by his wife Virginia Comegno Jackamonis, his siblings: George, Jack, Vincent, Betty Tucci, Shirley Ann Cobb and a brother in law Vincent. He is survived by his daughter and son in law: Darlene and Robert Scocca, grand-dog Katie, a sister: Florence Morrison (Ben), his in-laws: Raymond (Dolores) Comegno, Henrietta "Hank" Comegno, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
