George Tempe of Burlington passed away at Marcella Nursing Center in Burlington Township on Sunday at the age of 95. George was orphaned at the age of 5, but he would not let that define him. He went onto graduate high school and began his career serving his Country proudly in the United States Army. George retired from the US Army after 20 years of service in 1966. He earned the National Defense Service Medal and an Oak Leaf Cluster. He then transferred to United State Army Reserves where he completed another 10 years of service, for a total of 30 years of Honorable Service finally retiring on March 13, 1976. He then continued to work at what is now McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst Joint base as a cook for many years after. He was a member of the Oneida Boat Club and a local daily breakfast meeting group. George wishes were to have a cremation with Military Honors. His service and mausoleum entombment will be held at a date to be announced.
