Rita C Mesthos

Rita C. Mesthos, 65, of Upper Gwynedd, PA, died at her home on Tuesday surrounded by loved ones. She is survived by Steve, her beloved husband of 39 years, and her children, Greg of Philadelphia, PA, and Doug of Boston, MA. She was the sister of the late Jackie Robinson of Barnegat, NJ and the late John Barry of Key West, FL. Rita was born on June 5, 1953 in Philadelphia, PA. She moved often in her childhood, but always found a way to visit G Street in Seaside Park, NJ, her home away from home and the location where she and Steve met. She received her bachelor's degree in psychology from Ursinus College, and a Masters in Social Work from Catholic University. She worked for various healthcare systems, first at Southern Ocean County Hospital and most recently at Virtua Memorial Hospital in Mt. Holly, NJ, as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She retired in 2003 for medical reasons. She raised her children in Springfield, NJ, and moved to Lansdale, PA, once they went off to college. Rita treasured her friends and family and deeply valued her relationships. She was known for her kind and compassionate spirit and playful humor. Recently, she enjoyed games, reading, playing scrabble and entertaining in her sun room. Relatives and friends are invited to call Friday Oct. 26, 2018 at the Anton B. Urban Funeral Home, 1111 S. Bethlehem Pike Ambler, PA, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. and Saturday from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at St. Helena's Church, 1489 Dekalb Pike, Blue Bell, PA with her Funeral Mass being celebrated at 11:00 AM. An additional calling will be held on Sunday Oct. 28, 2018 at Page Funeral Home, 302 E. Union St., Burlington, NJ, from 12:00 - 2:00 PM.
