Robert J Fastow

Robert J. Fastow of Burlington passed away in a traffic accident on Sunday at the age of 92. Robert served his country proudly during World War II in the US Army. Rob was born in Newark and belonged to the Knights of Columbus #150 in Newark and was part of the St. Patrick's Day Parade committee for 35 years. He was a charter member of the Carteret Elks #2235, past Grand Knight of the Carteret Knights of Columbus, and a member of the American Legion Post in Newark. Rob and his late wife Margaret "Marge" were very active in the Ancient Order of Hibernians. Rob served as Past State President and was a Past National Director of the order. In Burlington, they both were very active in the community and belonged to St. Paul's RC Church, where he sang in the church choir and belonged to the Young of Heart. Rob also belonged to the K of C Burlington Council #589 and helped with the American Red Cross Blood Drives. He was also a member and past officer of the Historic Yorkshire Alliance and belonged to the Oneida Boat Club. Husband of the late Margaret , he is survived by his brother J. Roy Fastow and sister in law Mary Fitzpatrick, his nephews and niece: Robert P. Fastow, Shawn Fitzpatrick, Colleen Fitzpatrick,; great nieces and nephews:, Alexis, Elizabeth, Kailee Fastow; Keegan, Callahan and Quinlan Fitzpatrick and many friends. The family invites friends to his viewing and funeral services. Viewings will be held at Page Funeral Home, 302 E. Union St., Burlington on Sunday from 1-4pm and also Monday from 9:30-10:30am. Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Paul's RC Church on Monday at 11am with burial to follow in St. Paul's Cemetery, East Broad St., Burlington.
