Vera Jean McVaughn Sampson MacMillan passed away Sunday January 13, 2019 at the Virtua Health and Rehab Center in Lumberton at the age of 90. Vera was born May 9, 1928 in Fairmont, West Virginia to the late Joseph and Vera McVaugh. She was a graduate of Wilbur Watts High School, Class of 1945, was a member of the Broad St. United Methodist Church in Burlington and worked for the Burlington Township Treasurer's Office. She enjoyed playing the piano and organ and traveling across the country visiting family and National Parks. She was predeceased by her first husband of 30 years William L. Sampson, Sr, who passed away in 1980 and her second husband of 32 years, Robert J. MacMillan who passed away in 2017. Vera Jean is survived by her four children and their spouses: William L. and Maria Sampson, former daughter in law Joanne Sampson, Edward J. and Valerie Sampson, Rebecca J. Sampson and Robert Simon and Steven D. Sampson. She is also survived by her five step-children and their spouses: Ruth Ann and Rev. John George, Donald N. and Rebecca MacMillan, Robert K. and Bonnye MacMillan, Kenneth R. and Barbara MacMillan and Doris and James Megee. In addition, she is survived by twelve grandchildren and step-grandchildren: Stephen and David George, Amanda (MacMillan) Stromoski, Rachel (MacMillan) Huryn, Megan (MacMillan) Dubnick, Lauren (MacMillan) McAndrew, Kelly MacMillan, Meredith Megee, Andrew Sampson, Kathleen Sutton, Kevin Sampson and Matthew Sampson and eleven great grandchildren: Kelsey, Carson & Sadler George, John Michael, David Austin, Caleb & Ezekiel George, Cari Dubnick, Aubrey McAndrew, Natalie and Alexander Huryn. Relatives and friends are invited to the viewing and funeral services to be held Saturday January 19, 2019 at the Page Funeral Home, 302 E. Union St., Burlington. Viewing will be held from 10-11am with the funeral service beginning at 11am. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Rt. 130 and Beverly Rd., Burlington.
