William E Vandegrift

William E. Vandegrift, a lifelong resident of Burlington, NJ, passed away on January 15th, 2020 at Marcella Center in Burlington Township at the age of 98. William proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II. William was blessed to have met his future wife, Flora, in Belgium near the end of the war. After the war ended, they settled in Burlington and began their family life. William worked for National Gypsum Company and belonged to the VFW of Roebling. He enjoyed watching the Cowboys and Phillies play, but his true passion was his family. William was a very loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. A good natured man, he embodied the meaning of God, family and country. William is predeceased by his loving wife Flora (Nee Vanbeselaere) and his sisters Marjorie, Ruth, Dorothy and Margaret. William is survived by his brother Robert (Anita) Vandegrift and his brother Harry Vandegrift. William is survived by his daughters Ingrid Vandegrift, Jean (Robert) Arden, and a son and his best friend, William J. Vandegrift. He is survived by his grandchildren Candice (Aaron) Braun, Jeanine (Mario) DeSantis, Elizabeth (Michael) Tsarfati, William G. Vandegrift and Dolores (Justin) Grammy. William especially enjoyed his great-grandchildren Naomi and Ned DeSantis, Grace Flora and Owen Tsarfati, and was excited for the baby expected this April. William had wonderful relationships with his many nieces, nephews and friends. A viewing and Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary of the Lakes in Medford on Wednesday, January 22nd, 2020. The viewing will be from 9:45-10:45 am with Mass after at 11:00 am. Entombment will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery Mausoleum on Route 130 in Burlington. Expressions of sympathy may be sent to his family from www.pagefuneralhome.com.
