Albert Sullivan Obituary

Albert (AL) Sullivan, 90, of Columbus NJ, formerly Burlington NJ, passed away peacefully at his
home with his wife and four daughters by his side. He lived a good life and enjoyed his family,
dancing, sports, gambling and eating a good breakfast to start each day. He was an avid Sixers and
Phillies Fan and asked at least twice a day when they were playing. Al was a phenomenal jitterbug
dancer, and he could command an audience on the dance floor and until the end this was the one
thing he missed doing the most.
Albert was a US Navy veteran. He was in the US Navy for two years of active duty/two years of
reserve. He started his career with UPS before his time in the service and picked up after he was
released and spent 39 years there, retiring when he was 60 years old. After leaving UPS, he became
a limo driver for various limo services and drove for a good 20 years, before retiring for a second
time to spend more time with his family and all his other extracurricular activities. Al was not one to
sit still long.
As his health declined, his family’s goal was to make sure to keep him home and around people.
The family had coordinated for all his care, which included a team of outside care givers to keep
him comfortable and allow him to stay at home and enjoy every moment with his wife, daughters
and extended family. His family will be forever grateful for everyone who played a part in his
caregiving and even those who just came to visit. He loved being around people.
He was predeceased by his mother, Bertha Jean Sullivan and his dad, John L. Sullivan and sons-in-
law Samuel (Bo) Gladwell and John Karlesky. Also predeceased by his great granddaughters
McKenna and Maeleigh Chester.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Bette and his four daughters, Marianne Farbar (Tom),
Donna Karlesky, Kelley Polizzi (Gary) and Kimberly Sullivan-Gladwell. He is also survived by his
grandkids, JD Karlesky (Jessica), Andy Karlesky (Sarah), Nicole Linder (Craig), Gabriella Chester
(Michael), Antonio Polizzi, Christian Karlesky and bonus grandson Brandon Nilsen. He is also
survived by five great grandchildren.
