Beloved wife, cherished mother, sister, daughter and friend Ann Marie Carricato, passed suddenly on Sunday December 15, 2024. She was 82 years of age.
She was also born on a Sunday–August 2, 1942 in Brooklyn, NY to her doting parents Angelo Volpe and Mildred (Pafundi) Volpe. Ann was the oldest of five siblings. Her adoring brothers and sister are forever grateful for Ann’s heartfelt love. She is survived by her sister Dolores Wanagatiis of Greenwich, CT, oldest brother Anthony Volpe of Buchanan, NY, and brothers Edward and Daniel Vople of Brooklyn, NY with their wives Susan and Vickie respectively. 17 nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews will sadly miss Ann’s gentle yet powerful ways and comical approach to life.
Two hearts collided when Ann met her second husband James Vincent Carricato. The life they created together was an amazing journey of mysticism, a search for God, being of service to others and being stuck like glue; they were inseperable! Together they raised four children in the beautiful Hudson Valley in Cornwall, NY–Michael Santoro of Montgomery, NY, Susan Cirnigliaro of Delray Beach, FL, daughter Mechele McGready (and her husband James McGready) of Cornwall, NY, and Eve Cullinan, who lives in Burlington, NJ. She will forever be in the hearts of her precious and admired grandchildren–Valerie Hendrickson of Babylon, NY, Blake McGready (and his wife Emily McGready) with of Bryn Mawr, PA, Madison McGready (and her husband Evan Sherman) of Warwick, NY, and Cal, Kate and Brady Cullinan of Burlington, NJ. Ann was great grandmother to Carey James McGready, born August 2024.
Ann had an incredible knack for quiet leadership. She produced several theatrical productions in the 1980s for the Cornwall (NY) Theater Group. Her passion for the arts fueled her dedication to the craft. Notably, she was a fine artist of watercolor paintings that she showcased and gave as treasures to loved ones. Her God given talents also included compassion and empathy. She was a healer of the ‘body and soul’ for others. She held an Advanced Healing Touch Practitioner Certificate for Lourdes Wellness Center in Columbus, NJ, as well as a Hypnotherapy Certification for health and wellness.
Ann was a multifaceted individual and professional with over 25 years of communication experience across various fields. She made a significant impact in her role as an Administrative Representative at The Parker Center for Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery in Paramus, NJ where she provided valuable information, organized promotional seminars and supported patients through her Healing Touch therapies.
Also, she held a Conference Representative Coordinator position at the Association for Research and Enlightenment in Virginia Beach, VA while she and her husband Jim lived there for over a decade.
Before moving to Virginia Ann worked at West Point Military Academy Once again appointed to a position that required compassion and care and administrative ability. She was a Social Service Assistant there.
Additionally, Ann was a Breast Cancer Survivor of nearly twenty years. It was through this trial that she began Dragon Boat Racing to promote both physical and spiritual healing. It wasn’t long before the group noticed Ann’s uncanny ability to lead and love. She was naturally appointed as a Board Member.
Ann’s story of life and love was favored and a gift to those whose lives she touched. She was full of grace, forgiveness, forbearance and wisdom. And she had an unbelievable sense of humor and humility which was amazing to watch. May her legacy and spirit live on. A visitation for Ann will be held Friday, December 20th from 1-3:30pm at the Page Funeral Home, 302 E. Union St., Burlington, with a memorial service beginning at 3:30pm at the funeral home. Interment will be held privately.
