Anna Pennise, a devout Christian, and lifelong resident of Burlington City, passed away on June 20th, 2022, after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 75. Anna was born the youngest of 5 children to Italian immigrants in Mt Holly NJ, October 27th, 1946. Anna graduated from Burlington City High School in the class of ’64. She married her classmate, Joseph P. Pennise Sr, on December 26th, 1966, during a Christmas blizzard. While raising two beautiful daughters and two ornery sons, Anna attended floral design school and opened Anna’s Flower Delights on High Street in Burlington City. Anna’s lifelong family homestead of 75 years on Wood Street, became the ultimate palette for her love of floral design. She could often be found working in her yard among the butterflies, in her colorful and abundant flowerbeds. Anna’s strong faith and her love for The City of Burlington, was evident in her daily devotion to prayer for the well-being of the city and all of its residents.
Anna is survived by her husband of 55 years Joseph P. Pennise Sr, her children Geannine LeBude (Neil), Danielle Gladney (Scott), Joseph Jr, Aaron (Marcie), grandchildren Natalia, Joseph III, Francesca, Brooklynn, Marco, sister Esther Juliano, brother Frank Panico, many nieces and nephews, and extended family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents Francesco Panico and Andunina (Yanero), brother Michael Panico, and sister Madelyn Yanchyshyn.
Anna’s absence will leave a hole in the life of all who knew her, and the world she strived to make a more beautiful and faith filled place.
