Antoinette Maccar (nee Carnivale), passed away Monday, Aug. 28, 2023, at Virtua Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Camden at the age of 73, with her heartbroken husband, son and daughter-in-law by her side.
Born in Mt. Holly, Antoinette was a lifelong resident of Burlington City and graduated from Burlington City High School in 1968. Soon after, she married David Maccar, a man with whom Antoinette was so madly in love and so excited to start their life together that she moved up their wedding date. David would be her beloved husband and constant companion for 54 years of a beautiful marriage.
In her early years, Antoinette worked as a bookkeeper for Hooker Chemical Co. until her son David Benjamin was born. She then full-heartedly dedicated herself to being a doting, attentive mother and impassioned homemaker whose loving home welcomed her family and family-of-the-heart just as warmly as she did. As much as Antoinette cared for almost anyone who fell into her orbit, she fiercely adored her Davids and demonstrated time and again that she would do anything for “Husband” and “Boy.”
Antoinette loved watching her husband’s garden grow each spring and summer, decorating the home they made together, taking care of the families she was both born into and chose, and lovingly spoiling her grand-dog Hunter. The world will be a quieter, less colorful place without her joy, big heart, bangle bracelets, many, many opinions, knack for making friends and conversation anywhere, and bursts of laughter in it.
She was predeceased by her parents Pasquale and Irene (nee Weinczyck) Carnivale, as well as many other aunts and uncles. In addition to the countless loving relatives and friends she leaves behind, Antoinette is survived and already deeply missed by her husband, her son, and her daughter-in-law Madeleine, whom she loved like her own daughter and to whom she will forever be Mom.
A visitation for Antoinette will be held Saturday, September 9th from 1-3pm at the Page Funeral Home, 302 E. Union St., Burlington. A memorial service will begin at 3pm. Interment will be held privately. Messages of sympathy may be sent to the family through www.pagefuneralhome.com.
