Arie Eurdly Ignatius Steele also known as Chickey or Chick was born on June 13, 1963 in Georgetown Guyana, and departed from us on May 4, 2021. He was the fifth child of fourteen children. As a young boy in Guyana he attended St. Mary’s Primary School until the age of 12 and for some time served as an Altar Boy at the local Roman Catholic Church. Following Primary School, he attended South Ruimveldt Multilateral High School where he remained until the age of 17. After High School he joined the Guyana Defense Force (army) where he performed in acrobatics and played the trumpet among his duties as a soldier. Chickey always had a knack for playing musical instruments, and even learned to play the guitar without formal training. Besides music, and acrobatics, Chickey was the biggest Comedian in his family; you would cry with laughter from his jokes. Following the military, Chickey did international trading between Guyana and the Caribbean until he immigrated to the United States. After a few years of taxi driving, he pursued his passion for electrical work and opened his own business called, Arie Steele Installations where he began doing the work that he loved up until he passed. He was a father who bought toys for the kids and enjoyed them just as much his kids did. In 1998 Chickey met the love of his life Wakithea and they were inseparable. You would not see one without the other, so on November 1, 2017 they formed a union and became one. Chickey was a loving and devoted husband. Their love was a true-life fairytale. He would always say “OUR LOVE IS FOREVER”, and by these words, I always felt secure. Chickey leaves behind his beloved wife Wakithea Oliver also known as Keke of Willingboro NJ, and his three children, Cubert (Junior), Brian, and Baayork Steele; grandchildren Yvelise, Josiah, Noel, Bryan, Bri’ana, Iyanna, Jeremiah and Jenai. He also leaves behind his loving father in law Arthur Oliver Sr. One sister -in law Vanessa Oliver, two brothers in law Arthur Oliver Jr, and Daquon Oliver, three nieces Justice, Taki, Perioa and four nephews, Javorian, Jayden, Seon, and Arthur Oliver, III. He will be missed.
