Beverly Slimm Obituary

Beverly J. Slimm, (nee Thompson) passed away Sunday July 11, 2021 at the Masonic Village in Burlington Twp. at the age of 87.  Born in Essex, VT and raised in Colchester, VT Beverly was a longtime resident of Burlington City before moving to the Masonic Village four years ago. She was a graduate of Burlington High School, Burlington, VT.  After high school, she joined the army, serving honorably as a dental hygienist in the Women’s Army Corp (WAC) in Ft. Hood, TX and later Ft. Dix.  She was employed for several years at the Beverly Bank and Trust Co. in Beverly.  She then worked for the Burlington County Superintendent of Elections in Lumberton, from where she retired.  Bev was a longtime member and former deaconess of the First Baptist Church of Burlington and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Burlington.  While her son was in school, she was very active in the various school PTA organizations.  She enjoyed traveling and took many bus trips over the years with a group known as the happy travelers.  She also enjoyed reading and doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles.  Her favorite hobby was crocheting.  She was always with her crocheting bag and would spend hours making many blankets and other items for family and for the church to sell at fundraisers. She was predeceased by her sister and brother in law Alma and Elden Bucklin and sister in law Kathy Thompson. Beverly is survived by her husband of almost 58 years William “Bill”, Sr., her son and daughter in law William “Bill” Jr. and Beth, her granddaughters Lauren and Sara, her brother Richard Thompson, her sister and brother in law Caroline and George Racine as well as several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. A viewing for Beverly will be held from 10-11am, Tuesday July 20, 2021 at the First Baptist Church of Burlington, 335 Stacy St., Burlington.  Funeral services will begin at 11am in the church.  Burial with military honors will follow in the Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, North Hanover, NJ.  Memorial contributions made to the First Baptist Church of Burlington, 335 Stacy St., Burlington, NJ 08016, the Masonic Charity Foundation, 902 Jacksonville Rd., Burlington, NJ 08016 or the Endeavor Emergency Squad, 1309 Rancocas Rd., Burlington, NJ 08016.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Page Funeral Home, Burlington, where messages of sympathy may be sent to the family through www.pagefuneralhome.com.
