Bruce Morlack, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, and hero passed away surrounded by his loved ones on December 6, 2024, joining his wife Kathi, parents, Paul and Enid and nephew, Christopher in God’s presence. While his absence leaves a profound void, his family finds comfort in knowing that he lived a life full of love, kindness, and selflessness. Though he is no longer with them, his memory, spirit, and the joy he brought to those around him will forever provide strength and solace to those who continue to cherish him.
Born on September 21, 1950, in Trenton, NJ, to his beloved parents, Paul and Enid, Bruce grew up in Florence/Roebling before becoming a longtime resident of Burlington City. Bruce married the love of his life, Kathi, and they had two children, Michelle and Paul.
Throughout his life, Bruce was known for his dedication to his work and his ability to connect with others. He worked with Martin Surfacing as part of their road crew, where he got to travel all over the country and then enjoyed a long career as a forklift operator with NFI Industries. After retiring Bruce transitioned into a position as a respected crossing guard. It was in this role that he captured the heart of the community. Whether playing his harmonica, giving a friendly wave or interacting with the children Bruce loved this job and found a unique way to spread joy and happiness.
Bruce embodied kindness, selflessness, and generosity. He built his life on placing the needs of others above his own, and he always served others with a warm heart and an encouraging spirit. He believed in doing what was right and treating people well. He often offered positive words to the children he met at his crossing guard post. Bruce’s infectious humor and warmth made him beloved by all who knew him. Whether it was through music, a friendly wave, or witty banter, he was a source of joy for everyone. His talent for playing the harmonica was well known, and he became a cherished figure in the community, fondly nicknamed by one student as “Harmonica Joe.” He spread happiness wherever he went, and his genuine care for others was felt deeply by all. Bruce left this world the way he lived his entire life, by selflessly putting others first and doing what was right. It is still a shock but not a surprise that he would make such a sacrifice without hesitation to ensure the safety of the children in his care without thought of himself.
Bruce loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was passionate about music. He loved playing the guitar and harmonica. If he wasn’t working or with family Burce could often be found playing pool or hanging out with friends at the Tankard or Oneida Boat Club. He was an avid reader who “kept his mind sharp” by doing daily crossword puzzles.
Bruce will be remembered as a devoted, loving father and grandfather, a faithful brother and good friend by those who knew him best. Our community will remember him as the friendly and heroic crossing guard who put a smile on all our faces. Bruce was a one of a kind man who made people laugh and feel special. His profound impact on the community and those fortunate enough to know him will not be forgotten. Bruce was loved by many and was a friend to all. He had a lasting influence on his children and grandchildren, and his legacy of love, joy, and kindness will continue through them.
Bruce is survived by his children, Michelle (Ray Jr.) and Paul, his grandchildren, Antonio, Niyah, Isaiah, and Gianna, his brothers Glenn (Penny) and Jeff (Barbara), his sisters Sandra (Richard) and Paula, his niece Sheila, and many other loving family and friends.
Those who survived him will carry forward his legacy of love and service to others, and now, someone has to learn to play the harmonica!
