Carl “Scatt” Scattergood on June 7, 2021, at Samaritan in Mt. Holly, Carl cashed in his chips at the age of 93. Yeah, He loved playing cards! He was born and raised in Burlington City where he lived his entire life. In high school, he became a volunteer fireman for the Mitchell Fire Co. and achieved status as an Exempt Fireman, which he was very proud of. During the Korean Conflict, he was stationed in Japan. Upon returing, he married Jeanne Gudikunst and started a family. After working for many years on the NJ Turnpike, he went to work for PSE&G and retired after a long career. As a young man, he was a member of the McFarland Drum & Bugle Corp. Each Memorial Day, he would be heard playing “Taps” which he spoke of often. In addition to being a member of the Mitchell Fire Company, he was a member of Endeavor EMS, Roma Club, Burlington Elks and the Oneida Boat Club. In later years, as a resident of the Burlington Manor, he enjoyed supplying donuts to the residents and helping with the Bingo games.
Husband of the late Jeanne (Nee: Gudikunst), he leaves to cherish his memory their children: Judith (Robert) Ryan and Glenn Carl Scattergood; grandchildren: Kristin (John) Bocci, Kelly (Keith) Babula, Aundrea’ (Dan) Griley, Leah (Joe) DeNardo; great-grandchildren: Samantha, Jacob, Josie, Jordan and Grant. A viewing will be held at Page Funeral Home, 302 E. Union Street, Burlington, NJ 08016 on Monday, June 21, 2021 from 9-10am. A funeral service will begin at 10am with burial with Military Honors to be held at 11:30am in the NJ Veterans Memorial Cemetery, North Hanover. Due to cemetery restrictions of flowers at the cemetery, donations may be made in his memory to The Burlington County Animal Shelter,35 Academy Drive, Westampton, NJ 08060.
