Charles W. Gravener, 70, originally of Hamilton, NJ, died November 14, 2023, in Elma, NY. Charles, fondly known as Chuck and Charlie, was born on November 16, 1952 to Ann Brown and Charles A. Gravener and has two older sisters, Marjorie Blair (spouse Daniel Blair) and Nancy Minor (spouse Laird Minor). Chuck often recounted some of his best memories gathering with friends in the Exton Avenue neighborhood throughout childhood. Chuck attended Pfieffer University in Misenheimer, NC and later finished an MBA. He had a long career in NYC where he worked as an internal auditor for banks including JP Morgan and Lehman Brothers. He married Jo Ann Clayton in 1978 and they moved to Yardley, PA where Chuck and Jo Ann raised their children Julie Ann Gravener Davis, Charles William Gravener Jr, and James Clayton Gravener. Chuck always prioritized his immediate and extended family throughout adulthood. In his last few years of life, Chuck, then fondly known as “Grandpa Chip”, moved to Western NY where he lived close to his daughter Julie and her family.  In his golden years, Grandpa Chip was an active and loving grandfather to his grandchildren: Emma Sargent (14), Charles “Will” Gravener (7), Lincoln C. Davis (5), Winston P. Davis (5), and Anna Jo Gravener (2). He could often be found reading books, singing nursery rhymes, building Brio or engaging in elaborate imaginary play with his adoring grandchildren. After his move, he stayed in close contact with many dear friends, family members, and his beloved train group. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, with whom he will be laid to rest in Burlington, NJ. Charles is survived by his sisters and their spouses, children and their spouses, grandchildren and many dear cousins, nieces, nephews and great nieces, nephews and granddogs with whom he was close until his last day. The wake will be held on Sunday Nov 19th from 4-7pm at Page Funeral Home 302 E. Union St. Burlington, NJ 08016. His funeral service, followed by internment, will be held Monday Nov 20 at 10 am at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church and Churchyard 145 W. Broad St. Burlington, NJ 08016.
