Charles R. Ryder Sr. of Edgewater Park went to be with the Lord peacefully on November 12th while at home surrounded by his loving family after a short illness. He was 66.
Born in Philadelphia, Chuck later moved to Edgewater Park in 1966. He was a graduate of Burlington City High School and Valedictorian of the Class of 1976. He then graduated from Drexel University with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and was Class Salutatorian of the Class of 1981.
Chuck worked for the Christian Schmidt Brewing Company from 1977 to 1987. He then joined the Charles Jacquin family as Plant Chemist in 1987. Chuck quickly became the creator, developer, and team leader of the original Pennsylvania Dutch Egg Nog which continues to be enjoyed by people around the country today. He retired in 2020 as the Plant Operations Manager.
Chuck was a Firefighter with the Niagara Hose Company #6 in Burlington City for 25 years and is a Life Member of the Burlington County Exempt Firemen’s Association. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, the St. Paul Church Choir, and served as a member of the Edgewater Park Sewerage Authority from 2020 to 2024.
Chuck is predeceased by his father Thomas F. Ryder Jr., step-father Leo Mullin, brother Robert F. Mullin, and wife Kathy. He was the loving father to Robert (Paula), Joseph (Gina) and Charles Jr. (Stacey) and devoted “Pop” to Lacie & Riley, JaZelle & Logan and Ryleigh. Chuck is also survived by his mother Antionette T. Mullin, brother Thomas Ryder III (Trish), and nephews.
Chuck enjoyed motorcycling, vacationing with his wife, children and grandchildren, and entertaining by the pool in Kathy’s backyard paradise.
Family and friends may call Wednesday, November 20, 2024, from 6 to 9 PM and Thursday, November 21, 2024 from 8:30 to 9:30 AM at PAGE FUNERAL HOME, 302 East Union Street, Burlington, NJ 08016, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM at St. Katherine Drexel Parish, St. Paul Church. Entombment will be in Lakeview Memorial Park Mausoleum, Cinnaminson.
