Daniel Baur Obituary

Daniel “Dan” J. Baur, 80, of Cherry Hill passed away October 22, 2025, in Willingboro. He was born February 7, 1945, to Helen (Bailey) and Bernard Baur in Davenport, Iowa.

Dan was renowned for his quick wit and sharp sense of humor. Conversations with him could last for hours, moving easily from topic to topic. He would put his vast storehouse of trivia to the test regularly watching Jeopardy. If you were with him and the nightly news with David Muir came on the volume went up and you were cut off. He never missed a Green Bay Packers game or a NASCAR race and loved to be outside, taking walks and learning about his surroundings.

Above all, Dan was a dedicated and loving father. His pride and joy were his daughters, Melissa Alger and Melinda (Robert) Jones. He was a doting grandfather, going by the pet names “Hey You” and “Poppy” to Ethan and Shane Alger, Ciarra Melino, Bobby (Faith)and Aiden Jones, as well as his great-grandchildren, Anthony, Audriana and Delaynie. He is also survived by his siblings, Dave (Janie) Baur; Jerry (Helen) Baur; Juliana Baur (Jim) Walker; and Betty (John Neumann) Rogers ; as well as many nieces and nephews whom he loved very much.

Dan served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, spending more than a year in Vietnam. After his service, he lived in several states before settling his family permanently in New Jersey in 1979. He retired from the import/export department of BAX Global in Cargo City, Pennsylvania.

In the near future there will be a celebration of life that everyone is welcome to attend.
