David Raymond Ghaul, 78, long time Burlington resident and veteran, passed away on Wednesday October 8, 2025 at Virtua Willingboro Hospital. He was born in Mount Holly on November 9, 1946 and raised in Burlington graduating from Burlington High School in June 1965. At 19, David enlisted in the United States Air Force and served during the Vietnam War.
After the military David spent his working career at US Steel, Presicontact, Vibroplating and retired from the State of NJ Department of Labor in November 2015.
David was a devoted lifetime member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church. He is a current member of the Neptune Hose Fire Company No. 5 and the Captain James MacFarland American Legion Post 79.
David was very active in Burlington City sports dedicating 20 years to coaching youth sports. He was an avid sports fan with a great love for Notre Dame football, the Miami Hurricanes and the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles.
Son of the late Harry and Ruth (Hess) Ghaul, he was also predeceased by his father in law and mother in law Louis and Dorothy Mercuri and his brother in law Allan Mercuri and his sister in law Maryjane Mercuri
He is survived by his beloved wife of 58.5 years Gail (nee Mercuri) Ghaul, his four kids Tony (Sheri) Ghaul, Michael Ghaul, Andrea Ghaul Fair and Ryan Ghaul. In addition he also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren; Daija Fair, Raiya Fair, Julissa Ghaul and Nino De Oliveira and well as his grandpuppy and companion Coco. He is also survived by his brothers Douglas Ghaul, Dennis (Lisa) Ghaul, his cherished sister in law Claire Mercuri, his brothers in law Mark Mercuri, Pat (Eileen) Mercuri and several nieces and nephews.
A visitation for David will be held Tuesday October 14th from 9am-10:30am at the Page Funeral Home, 302 E. Union St., Burlington. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11am Tuesday in St. Paul R.C. Church, 223 East Union St., Burlington. Interment will be held privately.
Memorial contributions made to either the St. Katharine Drexel Parish, 223 E. Union St., Burlington, NJ 08016 or to the Burlington County Animal Shelter, 35 Academy Drive, Westampton, NJ 08060 would be appreciated by his family.
