Donna Jean Cherry

Donna Jean (Miller) Cherry, 82, passed away peacefully due to complications from Alzheimer’s disease at the Masonic Village at Burlington on September 2, 2024. Formerly of Delran, NJ, Donna was a Pittsburgh native born in 1941 to Gustav and Elizabeth (Short) Miller. Donna was a proud graduate of Langley High School. Over the course of her career, Donna worked as a medical billing clerk at various medical practices until she retired.

Donna’s connection to her Pittsburgh roots never wavered even after moving to the New Jersey area. Donna bled black and gold as her Sundays consisted of the Steelers and rooting against any team in their division. Donna was also a passionate Pittsburgh Penguins fan. We learned not to call or make any plans during a Penguins game. Look out when her teams were not winning… choice words could be heard echoing through the house. She was a die-hard Pittsburgh fan. Although she despised the Philadelphia Eagles, she would always find it in her big heart to buy Eagles memorabilia for her grandson.

Donna’s family meant everything to her. She would always go out of her way to make any event special. Her greatest achievement was being a wonderful wife, mom, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Donna’s grandchildren meant the world to her! Donna was predeceased by her husband, Michael, where they were happily married for 59 years. Beloved mother of Vicki (John) Verzella and Michael (Shelly) Cherry. Cherished by her grandchildren Jessica (Matthew) Stein, JJ Verzella, and great-grandchild Henry Stein. A private memorial service will be held in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Donna’s memory to the Susan G.
