Edwin James Hedger, 75, of Florence, NJ, passed from this life on Monday, May 8, 2023, after hospitalization for medical conditions. Edwin was born to Neal and Dorothy Hedger on July 1, 1947, in Pottsville, PA. After graduating from Moorestown High School, he studied project management at Drexel University and earned his bachelor’s degree.
Known as “Ed” to friends and loved ones, he was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather. He met Rosemary at church in 1981, and they married the same year. The couple went on to parent Maranatha together and, in 1983, welcomed son Joshua Edwin Hedger to their family. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, vintage cars, boating and a good action or sci-fi movie. His faith and generosity motivated him to donate much of his time and talents to his church and community.
Ed worked with many prominent organizations during his 40-year career, including Whitesell Construction Company, Granary Associates and Johnson & Johnson. He also managed several significant commercial development projects, such as Trenton’s State Street Square and the Laurel Corporate Center. In 2003, he founded his own project management consulting company. Additionally, Ed volunteered on the Burlington City Historic Preservation Commission and the board of Habitat for Humanity.
The epitome of a hard worker and provider, Ed served as Design Project Manager for the State of New Jersey until his hospitalization. He was predeceased by his parents, Neal and Dorothy Hedger. Ed is survived by his spouse Rosemary, son Joshua, daughter Maranatha, and his grandchildren, Noah, Joley and Gwen. His legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
A service celebrating Ed’s life will be held at The Fountain of Life Center on Monday, May 15, at 7 p.m. EST. Instead of flowers, the family requests donations to a GoFundMe account for his grandchildren’s education.
