Ellen Mae (Van Sciver) Smith passed away peacefully on August 7, 2023. Ellen was 91 years old.
She was born, January 6, 1932, in Burlington, NJ to the late John and Clara Van Sciver. Ellen was married to David K. Smith on September 6th, 1952, for 70+ wonderful years. They lived in Edgewater Park, NJ and Burlington, NJ.
She was preceded in death by her infant son, baby Smith 1963;7 brothers and sisters Alma Ester (William) Arenz, Edward Murrell (Helen & Alma) Van Sciver, Eleanor Mae (Thomas) Scattergood, John Hillary (Bonnie & Constance) Van Sciver, Mary Emma (Willam) Lukens, Beatrice Jean (John) Queenan and Jack Holmes (Meryl) Van Sciver. Also, her son-in-law Steven Moore.
Ellen worked for Borden's Dairy for many years. She then worked for 30 years in Burlington, NJ for her brother-in-law, John E. Queenan Jr., attorney. She volunteered at the Riverview Estates in Riverton, NJ for 15 years after retirement, where she was named volunteer of the year!
She was a member of Broad Street United Methodist Church and formerly active member of the First Baptist Church Burlington and the First Baptist Church of Mt Holly.
Ellen enjoyed cooking, traveling, bible study, card games and going out to lunch, especially with her friends and the Red Hats! She always enjoyed her family and friends and their company.
Ellen is survived by her husband, David K. Smith Sr. and their three children Susan Moore, Sally (Anthony) DiGia, and David (Oné); 6 grandchildren, Kristin (James) Mederos, Jeremy (Laura) Moore, Gregory (fiance, Danielle Matthews) Mower, Holly Moore, Jorja Smith and Wyatt Smith; 4 great-grandchildren, Cole Mederos, Jace Mederos, and Trey Mederos (Kristin) and Josephine Moore (Jeremy).
A viewing for Ellen will be held at the Masonic Home Chapel at 902 Jacksonville Road, Burlington, NJ 08016 on Wednesday, August 9th at 10am - 11am. Service will immediately follow at 11:15 AM.
Burial at the Beverly National Cemetery at a future date. Arrangements are under the direction of the Page Funeral Home, Burlington, NJ.
