Emanuel Centifonti, Jr.

March 1, 1934 – February 29, 2024

Emanuel Centifonti, Jr. of Burlington City passed away on Thursday, February 29, 2024 at Virtua Hospital in Mt. Holly, NJ surrounded by his family.  He was 90 years old.  He is predeceased by his parents Emanuel & Bambino Centifonti, three brothers and two sisters.

A lifelong resident of Burlington and parishioner of Saint Katharine Drexel Parish, Emanuel graduated from Wilbur Watts High School in 1953.  He earned an Associate’s degree from Burlington County College, a Bachelor’s degree from Southern Illinois University and a Master’s degree from Central Michigan University.  In his early days, Emanuel worked at the iconic Claire’s Drug Store on Broad Street in Burlington.  Following, he was an employee at U. S. Pipe in Burlington, NJ and later at Ford Motor Company in Pennsauken, NJ with over 25 years of service ending with his role as a Worker’s Compensation/Benefits Manager.  After retirement, Emanuel was a teacher at Lincoln Technical Institute teaching various business and medical courses and was voted as teacher of the year by his students.  He also volunteered his time working with children in the Special Olympics and was a swimming instructor at Burlington County College and CPR instructor for the Red Cross.  With a notable talent and passion for music, Emanuel was a member of St. Paul’s Choir for many years, sang at many weddings, and had the honor of performing with the choir at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Trenton, NJ for Mother Teresa, a now canonized saint, as well as the National Cathedral in Washington D.C.

Above all, Emanuel was best known for his infinite love of family.  He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Anna M. Centifonti (nee Korbut), five children, Mark (Karen), Gary (Margie), Robert (Debbie), Brian (Donna) and Laura (Ed), eight grandchildren, Julia, Jaclyn (Andrew), Justin (Randi), Kevin, Lindsey (Chris), Brian, Jr., Samantha & Valerie, five great grandchildren, Stella, Carsyn, Teddy, Abby & Adelaide, all of whom provided him with an abundance of joy.  He is also survived by his brother Joseph (Joan) Centifonti and many nieces and nephews.  He will also be missed by his pet companion, Tessie.

As a strongly devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather (G’Pop), Emanuel was deeply loved and respected not just by his family, but also by the many lives he touched as a friend, neighbor, teacher and colleague.  With his incredible ability to find positivity in all aspects of life, he will always be remembered for his selfless, immensely kind and giving heart.
