Emil Sakmary of Burlington, NJ passed away Tuesday July 8, 2025 at his residence at the age of 90. He was born in St. Clair, PA on November 9, 1934 to the late Mary (nee Semick) and Charles Sakmary. He was a graduate of Pottsville High School and earned a certificate in design from Penn State University in 1965. Emil served in the US Army, 89th Eng. Co. Port Construction. He was a true patriot who held the deepest respect for all those who served or are serving in the US Armed Forces. After his military service Emil worked for Allstates Engineering in Trenton, Stone and Webster Engineering in Cherry Hill and B.E.& K in Trevose, PA, first as a machinist and then as a design engineer. He was a devout member for 59 years of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Burlington Twp., where he volunteered as an usher and for many other service projects. He was a 50 year member of the Burlington Lodge #32 F&AM, serving as the Worshipful Master in 1980. He was also a life member of the St. Clair Amvets Post #142 and the Moose Lodge in Bristol, PA where he and his wife spent many Saturday nights dancing. After retirement he became a volunteer for the Masonic Home where he spent 14 years working in their woodshop. His hobbies included gardening and woodworking. He spent many hours a day in his basement woodshop and loved making things for his daughters and grandchildren. His latest love was making small wooden toys. He also made many other projects during the years for the church, the masonic home and friends and family. He also loved watching the birds that would visit his birdfeeder in his backyard and making home made pickles. He also had a love for aviation and enjoyed flying with his son in law, Parker. He also especially looked forward to and enjoyed coffee and breakfast every week with his best friend Richard. In addition to his parents, Emil was predeceased by his brothers John and Joseph. He is survived by his wife Dorothy (nee Homa), his daughters and sons in law; Donna and James DeNucci and Carol DiCamillo and Parker Elliott. He is also survived by his grandchildren who were the love of his life; Michael (Natalie) DeNucci, Julia DeNucci, Mia DiCamillo and Chloe DiCamillo, as well as many nieces and nephews. A viewing for Emil will be held Saturday, July 12th from 10:45-11:45am at the Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1308 Mt. Holly Rd., Burlington, NJ 08016. A Masonic Service will begin at 11:45am followed by the funeral service at 12noon. Entombment will follow in the Odd Fellows Cemetery Mausoleum, 4527 US Rt. 130, Burlington.
