Emily DeLuca (Nee: Chipolla) formerly of Edgewater Park and Mt. Laurel, passed away surrounded by her loved ones on Sunday at Brookdale in Florence at the age of 96. She was born in Vineland and lived there until her marriage in 1949. Emily served her country in the US Cadet Nurse Corp while in nursing training during World War II. She started her career at Newcomb Hospital in Vineland and retired from Rancocas Valley Hospital in Willingboro. Emily and her late husband enjoyed traveling and were proud to have visited almost all 50 states in America. At the age of 78 she and her childhood friend,Ginny, travelled to Italy and later cruised to Alaska. She belonged to the American Legion in Vineland and enjoyed being the snack lady for the meetings of NARFE. She was always very active in her parish church. Emily was an avid reader, bingo, and canasta player.
She was predeceased by her loving husband of 51 years Joseph R. DeLuca and her siblings: Anthony Chipolla and Marie Wolfe. She leaves to cherish her memory, children: Joanne (George) Nyikita, Michael (Ann) DeLuca, Kathleen (William)Stewart and Sharon (Bryan) Stuart; grandchildren: Joshua (Kelly) Nyikita, Molly (Thomas) Navalsky, Jeffrey (Megan) DeLuca, Shelley (Matt) Fink, Ian (Jennifer) Stewart, Ethan (Cassandra) Stewart, Zachary, Kara Stuart; 10 Great-Grandchildren: Nicholas, Margaret “Maggie”, Nyikita, Kate, Charlie Navalsky, Emmett DeLuca, Oliver Fink, Sadie and Emilia Stewart, Nora and Noah Stewart.
The family invites friends to her visitation and funeral mass on Tuesday, June 27, 2023. Visitation will be held in St. Paul’s RC Church from 9 to 9:45am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am. Burial services at Brig. Gen. Wm. Doyle NJ Veterans Cemetery will be held privately. Due to the cemetery restrictions on the amount of floral tributes allowed, donations may be made in her memory to Samaritan Gift Processing Center, PO Box 71425, Philadelphia, PA 19176.
