Ferdinand (Fred) Imperiale of Edgewater Park, NJ, son of the late Ferdinand and Loretta Imperiale, quietly passed away on Wednesday evening, November 20, 2024. He was 82, just 18 days shy of his next birthday. Fred was born in Atlantic City. At a very early age, his family moved to South Philly. A final family move brought Fred to Fairview, a suburb of Camden.
Fred’s first job was clerking for UE&C in Philadelphia. In 1967 he was drafted into the Army, just one year after marrying Betty, whom he met on a blind date. He was deployed to Germany where he served until his discharge in 1969. Fred then returned to UE&C, now Raytheon. He retired in 2004 as a special services supervisor for Washington Group International.
Fred was diagnosed with MS in his mid-forties, but he did not let the disease hold him back from enjoying life to the fullest. He loved visiting historic sights throughout the country with Betty. Most dear to him was the time spent in MN visiting with his son Chris and daughter in law, Jane. Traveling to Atlantic City with his buddies Chal and Tony left him with many treasured memories.
In his free time Fred could be found at his easel reproducing scenes he photographed while out and about. He loved listening to and singing along with, his favorite CD’s of which he had hundreds! Netflix was always there with high action movies which he loved. All knew Fred as a gentle-soft spoken man; loving, generous and kind.
Fred is survived by Betty, his wife of 58 years, son Christopher (Jane), sister Antonia Boyce, (John) and niece Lori Boyce (Jason). Also survived by loving in laws: Carol Ludwig, Michelle Sloan (Grant), Diane Rhoads, Alyssa Weaver (Josh) and Lindsay Sloan. Visitation for Fred will be held at St. Paul’s RC Church, 223 E. Union Street, Burlington on Saturday, December 7, 2024 from 9:30-1045am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am with burial and Military Honors to follow in Lakeview Memorial Park, Rt. 130N, Cinnaminson. In lieu of flowers memorial donation may be made in his memory to Pacing for the Cure, A Non-Profit Agency that assist MS Patients and their families. Pacing for the Cure, PO Box 1, Mt. Laurel, NJ 08054. Pacingforthecure.org.
