Francis E. Smith, Sr. "Gene"

Francis Eugene Smith, Sr., “Gene” of Burlington Twp., passed away Saturday March 18, 2023 at Virtua Hospital Mt. Holly at the age of 82. Born in Mt. Holly, Gene was a longtime resident of Burlington Twp. Throughout the course of his career, he worked as a carpenter for several construction firms in the area, lastly for Mark One Restorations. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time with his beloved dog and sidekick Scrappy. He also raised and flew homing pigeons. Gene was predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Susan L. Smith, his father Joseph Smith, his aunt Eva Lippincott, his sister Margaret Hensley and brothers Encil Smith and Edward Smith. He is survived by his children and their spouses; Debra (Allen) Luciano, Eugene F. (Mary) Smith, Jr., Stephanie (Jeff) Milliner, grandchildren; Jennifer (Bob) Pinto, Eugene J. (Melissa) Smith, Jason (Tracy) Smith, Frank (Miranda) Luciano, Brett (Jessica) Luciano, Kaitlyn Milliner and Chase Milliner, his great grandchildren; Ryan, Laci, Carlie, Jason Jr., Chloe, Noah, Lucky, Silas and Hadley. Gene is also survived by his brothers Robert Smith and Leonard Smith as well as many nieces, nephews and other family members and friends. Funeral services will be held privately. Memorial contributions made to the Burlington County Animal Shelter, 35 Academy Dr., Westampton, NJ 08060 would be appreciated by his family.
