Gerald Robinson Obituary

Gerald (Jerry) E. Robinson, of Burlington, NJ, passed away on October 8th at the age of 81. Born in Philadelphia and raised in the city’s Crescentville neighborhood, Jerry was the second of nine children of the late Earle and Anne (née Downing) Robinson. Before retiring, Jerry was a proud member of Local 332, working in construction for over 35 years with C. Erickson and Sons. He could fix anything and took great pride in pointing out the many places he helped build throughout his career. Jerry enjoyed history and could often be found reading or watching The History Channel and Jeopardy!—often wondering when the game show producers were going to send him his winnings check. He also had a keen interest in lighthouses and built an impressive collection of replicas over the years. In his youth, Jerry loved playing softball and hockey, later trading them for golf and attending his grandchildren's sporting events. A lifelong sports fan, he had a true love–hate relationship with Philadelphia teams—he hated when they lost, and loved pointing out whose fault it was. Jerry spent many summers in his father’s hometown of Wildwood, NJ. It was there he developed a lifelong love of the sea and honed his fishing skills. Though he called himself “Captain No Catch,” one of his greatest pleasures was deep-sea fishing along the Jersey Shore. He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Paula (née Hoefle) Robinson; his children Tracey Nunes (Mort), Denise Baehser (Bob), Rob Cantagallo (Tasha), and Jon Cantagallo-Rohm (Jessica); and his grandchildren Thomas, Devin, Brielle, Bobby, Brady, Giavanna, Gulianna, and Oliver. Jerry may be gone from sight, but we know he’s somewhere on calm seas, casting a line and smiling down on us. Per Jerry’s wishes, there will be no formal services, and his ashes will be scattered at sea.
