Herbert “Bert” Eastwick of Burlington City passed away peacefully on Friday, January 26, 2024 at Cooper University Hospital surrounded by his family at the age of 74. He was the loving partner of Leslie Haley for over 35 years.
Bert was born in Philadelphia, to the late Herbert “Bud” and Grace (Ruggeri) Eastwick. He was the beloved grandson of Anthony and Rose Ruggeri and nephew of his Aunt Mary Bacon, Josephine Wells, and his Uncle John Ruggeri
After graduating Burlington City High School he obtained his associate degree from Rowan University. Bert was a highly skilled carpenter and loved to build things from scratch and fix anything and everything which led to his successful career with various construction companies, such as Whitesell Construction. He was also a former member of the Carpenters International Union and Laborers International Union and worked for many years on construction projects at Princeton University, eventually starting his own company, R. W. Blue Construction which he ran until his retirement in 2015.
Bert took care of the family farm in Edgewater Park for many years, which sparked his passion for farming and cooking. He was never happier than when he was riding on his Super M tractor.
Bert was well known for his genuine smile and ability to befriend everyone he met. He loved the New Jersey Shore and often shared his love for architecture with others as he visited new places and the buildings he constructed. He cherished special moments with his family and friends watching the Eagles and Phillies and spending time with his four grandchildren.
Bert is lovingly remembered by his life partner, Leslie Haley, his stepdaughters Jennifer (Stephen) Melloy and Aubrey (Duke) Martina, his grandchildren; McKenna Melloy, Madison Melloy, Decklan Melloy and Noelle Martina, his siblings: Candy Davis and Gary (Jayne) Eastwick and his nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A visitation for Bert will be held from 1-2pm Sunday February 4th at the Page Funeral Home, 302 E. Union St., Burlington. A memorial service will begin at the funeral home at 2pm.
Interment in Monument Cemetery, Beverly will be held for family and friends at 1pm on Monday February 5th.
