James Wolfe Obituary

James E. Wolfe, 92, of Burlington, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, March 6, 2021. Born November 18, 1928 in Wilkes-Barre, PA., he was the son of the late Harry and Charlotte (Blakeslee) Wolfe. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 66 years, Edna H. Wolfe in 2018, as well as by his brothers Warren Bidwell, Robert, Harry and Charles Wolfe and his sister Margaret Carver.

James proudly served his country as a member of the Pennsylvania State Guard, Corporal, United States Air Force, (Barksdale, AFB) and Sergeant, United States Army 9th Infantry Division, (Ft. Dix).

He began a career in law enforcement that spanned more than 25 years. James served the City of Burlington Police Department as a Patrolman, Detective, Sergeant and finally Lieutenant for the Burlington City Police Department. He later joined Supermarkets General Corp. (Pathmark) for 16 years as Director of Security & Loss Prevention for the New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware regions. In later years, he was a Code Enforcement Officer for the City of Burlington and served as Deputy Superintendent of Weights and Measures for the County of Burlington. James was an active member of the Fraternal Order of Police for more than 60 years, serving as Local Lodge President, State Lodge Secretary and National Trustee. He also was a member of the American Legion Post 79.

He enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also was a talented craftsman, cook and baker. James is survived by his children, son Jay and daughter in law Renee, a daughter Karen, as well as many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff of Samaritan for their courteous, professional help and dedication.

A viewing for James will be held at Page Funeral Home, 302 E. Union Street, Burlington, NJ 08016 on Friday from 9:30-10:30am with a service beginning at 10:30.
