They bought a home in Brooklyn, NY where they had two sons Paul Stepien and David Stepien. Later they moved to Lehigh Acres, Florida where they lived for 10 years. There were many good times that were had in Florida, especially with family who would drive from New York to visit. Eventually, Jan and his family moved to Burlington Township, NJ where Jan lived the rest of his life. In the years that Jan lived in the United States, he had become a machinist working for several companies in New York, Florida and New Jersey. The last company that he had worked was at Emerson in Burlington, NJ where he had a lot of good friends. He retired from the company in his later years and spent the remaining years with his wife Maria.

He played in several soccer leagues including a traveling club when he lived in Florida where he had met several friends from different countries in Europe. Skiing was a big part of Jan’s life that he started at a young age, and he would do until later in life as well. He loved the outdoors in general and was always looking to travel. You would rarely find him indoors since he liked to be outside with nature. He would grow his own vegetables in a garden and cared for several fruit trees that he would make Polish Kompot from with the fruit. He also enjoyed cooking different Polish dishes like golabki’s, bigos and zimne nogi.
Jan always enjoyed being around people and loved social gatherings. A lot of times, Jan could be the one to get the party started and keep it going into the night by singing and playing the guitar. Jan would want everyone who knew him to remember all the many great times that they had together in life.
