Jean M. (Filippine) Eckman

Jean M. Eckman (Filippine) passed away on May 4, 2023 at Cooper Hospital in Camden at the age of 92.  She was born in Burlington and remained a lifelong resident. She was a beloved and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and spent her time caring and raising her children and many others. Jean enjoyed gardening, cooking, and especially having her family over for Sunday dinners. She loved doing Search a Word puzzles, watching wrestling and cooking shows.  Her favorite pastime was being outdoors and sitting on her front porch. She was a dedicated parishioner of St. Paul Church in Burlington and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 79. She is pre-deceased by her husband Leonard R. Eckman, her parents Felice and Settima (nee Serlango) Filippine as well as two brothers Samuel V. Filippine and John P. Filippine and granddaughter Colette Appleton. She is survived by her children Jeanmarie Morlack (Glenn R.), Donna Hay, Leonard R. Eckman, Jr., Danette Eckman, her grandchildren Bill Appleton (Amanda Plattenberger), Camille Eckman, Cory Eckman, and great-grandchild Dylan Appleton, nephews John A. Filippine, and Samuel V. Filippine, Jr., nieces Gloria Filippine and Linda Samperi, and many great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends including a dear lifelong friend/neighbor Robert Pallante. She was a strong woman, kind soul, a true saint, and the rock that held us all together.  We now entrust her to our Loving God. A viewing will be held Wednesday, May 10, 2023 from 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. at the Page Funeral Home, 302 E. Union St., Burlington. followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 noon at St. Paul RC Church, 223 E. Union St. Burlington, NJ. Interment to follow at Laurel Hill Mausoleum. Contributions can be made in Jean’s memory to the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 79, 540 High St., Burlington, NJ 08016.
