Jeffrey Hairston

Jeffrey Kyle Hairston of Willingboro passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at Our Lady of Lourdes, Camden, New Jersey.  Jeffrey lived at the Tidewater Group Home at Durand, Inc.  He was deeply loved by his supervisor Tsilka Brooks, all the residents, staff and Durand, Inc. a whole. 

Jeffrey attended and graduated from Burlington County Special Services School in 1994.  After searching and attending many Day programs, he finally settled on the Durand ATS in 2003; where he remained for 22 years.  A year after getting settled in our ATS program, he moved into Tidewater group home where he lived for 21 years!  This is a huge and devastating loss to Durand, Inc. and everyone who encountered Jeffrey.  At times he could be very demanding, however, he was extremely loveable.  Despite many health conditions, they did not prevent him from capturing your heart!   He was a sweet and kind soul who had an infectious smile that lit up a room.  He also had a big personality that could not be matched!   

Jeffrey was 53 years old and loved living at Tidewater group home and attending the ATS program.  He was very friendly and loved social interaction.  He enjoyed music, dancing, hugging, eating some of his favorite foods and interacting with people in general.  We have fond memories of him listening to Michael Jackson and his “oldies, but goodies” music.  All we had to do was put on some music and he would be in his element.   He knew exactly what he wanted and did not want.  He was not shy in communicating his wants and needs in his own way.

There will never be another Jeffrey Kyle Hairston!  He will be deeply missed, and his memory will live on forever!

Burial will be held in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Route 130 Burlington, NJ 08016.
