Joan Kilroy Obituary

Joan Kilroy (nee Havard)

If you’re a dreamer, come in. If you are a dreamer, a wisher, a liar, a hope-er, a pray-er, a magic bean buyer… If you’re a pretender, come sit with me by the fire. Come in, Come in, Come in!

Joan Kilroy (nee Havard) welcomed so many into her days, the dreamers, the believers, and you. She would flat-out tell you that, “Black Friday is for amateurs…” Mrs. Kilroy was well put together, accountable, and active. She embraced and adored large family living. As an educator, she held hands, opened minds, and touched hearts.

Joan created a North Star of love that we could all look up to. Unknowingly, after 90 years, on Sunday, April 2, 2023, we put the moon into her hands, and death’s tender lips kissed her into goodnight at her home in Langhorne.

Joan’s circle of days began in the coal region just after the turn of the new year, 1933. She spent her formative years in Mahanoy City, PA, and spent many years working and raising her family in Bucks County. No matter where she went, Joan made lasting and held onto lifelong friendships. She made her career enrichening the lives of her students as a teacher in the Pennsbury School District and volunteered her time at Good Stuff Thrift Shops and in the thrift shop at St. Mary Medical Center in Langhorne. Joan was a longtime and active volunteer at the Bristol Riverside Theatre. Her countless hours of time there turned into a countless number of smiles. At home, Joan was “Mom” and “Gigi”. A little girl that came from a small family was the fun and thrifty patriarch who captured all of those precious big family moments picture by picture. Mrs. Kilroy will be long loved and remembered for the warm afterglow she has left. Please don’t fear sadness, as it tends to sit next to love.

Mrs. Kilroy was established in love in 1955 and enjoyed 60 years of marriage with her husband Thomas G. Kilroy, Sr. until his passing in 2015. Joan is the devoted mother of Thomas, Jr. & his wife Denise, James “Jay” & his wife Marissa, and was predeceased by her daughter Lois Kilroy in 2021. Mrs. Kilroy was the proud “Gigi” of Shanna & her fiance Mark, Thomas (Becky), Lauren “Susha”, Dylan, and Hailey Kilroy.

Relatives, lifelong friends, neighbors, and the Bristol Riverside Theatre are invited to gather with the Kilroy family. We’ll come together and take comfort in each other to share our most heartfelt stories on Friday, April 14th between 4:00 pm and 6:30 pm at Page Funeral Home 302 E. Union St. Burlington. Inurnment and the witness of love’s reunion will be held privately. As an expression of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Joan’s memory to the Bristol Riverside Theatre www.brtstage.org 120 Radcliffe St. Bristol, PA 19007.
