John B. King, Retired United States Navy HMC, passed away surrounded by his family at home on Wednesday at the age of 91. John was born and raised in Uniontown, PA and worked in the steel mills before entering the Navy voluntarily. John began a 20 year career with the military serving as a Hospital Corpsman, Medical Assistant and in Military Regulations. He was attached to the 6th Fleet Marines. After his retirement from the service John, his wife Emma, and daughter RuthEllen settled in Edgewater Park. John started his second career as a County of Burlington Health Inspector; working his way up to Senior Health Inspector. He served the County of Burlington for 24 years before his retirement. John was a family man, and was a proud and active member of the Free & Accepted Masons Lodge #107 Beverly-Riverside. He served in many capacities including his term as Master of his Lodge. The same year he was Master, he was also the Worthy Patron of Beverly Maqueda, Order of Eastern Star while his wife was Matron . John was a Charter Member of the local chapter of the local Marine Corp League and in the last few years enjoyed time with family and watching the news. John was a die hard Steelers fan always enjoying the memories of the “Steel Curtain.” John was also well known for his belief that a handshake was your word, and a wry sense of humor. He was predeceased by his parents Paul H. Haught and Ruth May Riffle, a brother Paul H. Haught, Jr. John was the husband of over 50 years to the late Emma E King and is survived by their daughter and son in law RuthEllen and George Hudson, grandchildren: Eric R. Baker, Joshua G. Hudson, Kenzee R. Hudson, and three great-grandchildren, Neto, Levi and Rome. He was also predeceased by two nephews, Dale E. and Franklin G. Hoey. Services are at the discretion of the family.
