John G. Valentine of Wrightstown and formerly of Burlington City passed away Monday June 14, 2021 at Samaritan Healthcare Inpatient in Mt. Holly at the age of 94. Born in Camden, John was a longtime Burlington City resident before moving to Wrightstown. He was a veteran of the US Coast Guard, honorably serving at the end of World War II. He was a crane operator for US Pipe and Foundry Co. in Burlington until his retirement in 1987 after 39 years of service. After retiring from US Pipe, John worked for Diamond Lumber in Southampton. He also worked as a special deputy sheriff for Burlington County in the 1960’s, where he was able to meet President Lyndon Johnson during the convention in Atlantic City. In his spare time, John enjoyed gardening and was most proud of the rock garden he built in his backyard around his swimming pool. John was predeceased by his parents, John W. and Naomi (nee Walsh) Valentine, his first wife Virginia, his second wife Bernadette, and his grandsons Joseph Lowndes and Matthew Valentine. He is survived by his children; Virgina Valentine, John Valentine, Betsy Valentine, Tom (Maryann) Valentine and Ronald Walsh as well as thirteen grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. He is also survived by his cousin, Patricia Lynch. A visitation for John will be held from 11am-12 noon, Friday June 25, 2021 at the Page Funeral Home, 302 E. Union St., Burlington. A graveside memorial service will be held Friday at 1pm in Bethel Memorial Park, 1620 Cove Rd., Pennsauken, NJ 08110.
