John "Jack" VanBrunt Obituary

The family of John “Jack” VanBrunt is sorry to announce the passing of their beloved, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend who passed away on Tuesday in Virtua Hospital, Mt. Holly at the age of 93. Jack served his Country Honorably during the Korean War in the US Army. He was reverted back to the US Army Reserves and was a SGT at the time his service ended after 7 years. He then came home and started his working career and family. Jack and his late wife, Joyce, of over 70 plus years together were very family oriented and caring for their family and friends. Jack worked for NJ Bell on High Street in Burlington and for Verizon for many years before his retirement. He decided to take up running and trained to run 5k's and 1/2 marathons.  Jack took meticulous care of his home property and was proud of his landscape abilities.

As mentioned in Joyce’s obituary, Jack and Joyce shared a fairytale marriage that saw them buy, live, grow their family and still be in that same house for their entire lifetimes. The legacy will continue through their children: John, III (Renay) VanBrunt, Mark (Dawn) VanBrunt, Sue (John) Fries; grandchildren: Adrien (Tommy) Barwick, Alissa (Bojan) Ristic, John (Jessica) VanBrunt, Candice VanBrunt, Mark VanBrunt, Jack Fries; great-grandchildren: Bryson, Kelsey, Mason, Isla, Willow, John,V “Dutch” and his nephew Ronnie (Sandy) Mount. He was also preceded in death by his sister Doris Mount. The family will hold a private service to celebrate his life. Burial with Military Honor’s will take place in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Burlington. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501, St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
