Joseph M. Wallace, Jr., of Burlington City passed away suddenly, Monday July 4, 2022 at Virtua Hospital Willingboro, surrounded by his loving family at the age of 79. Born in Burlington to the late Joseph M., Sr. and Grace E. (nee Johnson) Wallace, Joe remained a lifelong resident. He led a life of service to the residents of the City of Burlington. He was employed for many years as the tax collector, he served many years as a councilman, was a longtime member of both the Mitchell Fire Co., and Neptune Hose Co., and also coached sports in Burlington City. Joe was a member of many organizations relating to his job as tax collector and the fire service. He was a member of the State of NJ Tax Collector and Treasurer Assoc., Past President of the Burlington County Tax Collector and Treasurer Assoc., Life Member of the NJ State Fireman’s Assoc., Past President of the Burlington City Exempt Fireman’s Association and Past President of the Burlington City Fireman’s Relief Assoc. Joe was also a parishioner of All Saints R.C. Church in Burlington and a Past Grand Knight of the Burlington Knights of Columbus, Council 589. In his spare time, Joe enjoyed watching sports, particularly the Philadelphia Eagles and the Phillies. He also enjoyed trips to Florida and Long Beach Island. He also loved to listen to music and sing oldies and Elvis songs. Joe’s greatest love however was for his family. He truly enjoyed spending time with his wife of 56 years, Rose, their children and grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Joe was predeceased by his brother William “Bill” Wallace. He is survived by the love of his life Rose (Nee Behot) Wallace, his sons Anthony J. (Amy) Wallace and Michael Wallace, his grandchildren; Emma, Alivia, Anthony, Jr., and Avery as well as several nieces, nephews other family members and special friends. A viewing for Joe will be held from 8:30 – 10:30am Saturday July 9, 2022 at the Page Funeral Home, 302 E. Union St., Burlington. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 11am in All Saints R.C. Church, 502 High St., Burlington. Entombment will follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery Mausoleum, Jacksonville Rd., Burlington. Memorial contributions made to either the Mitchell Fire Co., 300 E.
