Liselotte “Peggy” McGuinness passed into the grace of God on September 22, 2024, at the Masonic Home in Burlington, NJ, at the age of 94. Born in Fürth, Germany, in 1930, Peggy endured many hardships during her childhood in war-torn Germany during WWII. After the war, while working as a maid for American Army officers, she met the love of her life, Tom McGuinness, who was stationed in Germany with the U.S. Army. They married in 1952, and their marriage flourished for 65 years.
Upon returning to the United States, Peggy and Tom settled in Paramus, NJ, where they raised their family. A devoted Catholic, Peggy had a love for music and lent her beautiful voice to the choir at Our Lady of Visitation Church. As a loving mother and dedicated homemaker, she instilled a tremendous work ethic in her children, a testament to the challenging early years she faced in Germany. She worked for decades at Kmart in Paramus, often recognized as Employee of the Month.
Peggy’s warmhearted nature and sense of humor endeared her to many, and she was always kind and generous to those in her life. A heartfelt animal lover, she filled her home with many dogs and cats over the years. After retiring, Peggy and Tom moved to Lititz, PA, to enjoy their golden years in a beautiful house in Amish Country.
Peggy was predeceased by her loving husband, Thomas F. McGuinness, and their son, Thomas M. McGuinness. She leaves behind cherished memories with her son, Peter McGuinness; daughters, Maureen McGuinness and Patricia Campanelli; daughters-in-law, Mary Ann McGuinness and Jacqueline McGuinness; son-in-law, Christopher Campanelli; and her nine grandchildren: Peter, Ryan, and Michael McGuinness; Jennifer, April, and Gabrielle Campanelli; Amanda, Victoria, and Christina McGuinness. She is also survived by Lindsay McGuinness, wife of Ryan, and Donille McGuinness, wife of Peter, along with her four great-grandchildren: Cormac, Ridge, Myles, and Henry McGuinness. In her beloved Germany, she leaves cherished memories with her nieces Brigitte Kuehnlein, Roswitha Vogel and their families.
Peggy leaves this earth with a legacy of love, family, faith, and friendship, and she will be deeply missed by all.
