Lorraine M (Nee:Calandra) Low

June 9, 2020

Lorraine Low Obituary

Sometimes, we just need a hug. No words, no advice. Just a hug to make you feel better. "Meom", your hugs fixed back all of our broken pieces. Lorraine M. Low (nee Calandra) was a beautiful person in her heart and soul... and she was a HUGGER! You couldn't escape this woman without a hug. She'd actually hunt you down for it. Remember, she's the one who could fill the world with sunshine. Lorraine cared deeply for others. She was an exuberant, perfect 10 that was happiest when in the company of her family. Mrs. Low, however, was a night owl by nature and enjoyed late night grocery shopping. On Tuesday, June 9, 2020, just as the day slipped away into the evening, an Angel's tender lips kissed her into goodnight concluding a long battle with Alzheimer's and a short battle of Covid-19. Meom, memories should last forever, and no day will erase you from the memory of our time. Meom and Pepop are embraced in an Eternal Hug in Heaven and Angels looking over their family. A smile is a sign of joy, a hug is a sign of love, and a smile is a curve that sets everything straight. Meom was able to make things right by being a mix of Snow White and Dr. Doolittle. Lorraine was the greatest hugger, homemade cookie & jello maker among many things. She spoke fluent sarcasm, was quick to crack a joke and loved her critters. Squirrels, birds, chipmunks, dogs and cats, especially her cat "Sammy" all were hand fed right in her backyard. She was a kindhearted soul who just enjoyed; crossword puzzles, sewing, crime drama TV and a good cup of tea. Meom's pride for her grandchildren was unmatched. She showed and cheered proudly and the loudest at their recitals, sports games, awards ceremony and graduations. She had the uncanny ability to be able to share her love with her 5 children, 8 grandchildren and all Their friends. She knew and cared about every single family member, friend and extended family, a tremendous example of Love and Caring. Lorraine's life is a True Testament of what it means to be loved and she will be missed dearly. Lorraine was predeceased by her beloved and devoted husband of 54 years George W. Low in June of 2017. She leaves to cherish her memory and to continue her life legacy their children: two sons: George W. Low, Jr. and Brian Patrick (Marie) Low; three daughters: Donna Low, Laurie (Vince) Altimari, Sherri Low Hamblin; Eight grandchildren: Vanessa, Vincent, Anthony, Jordan, Hannah, John, Sophia and Nikki. She is also survived by her dear friends Joan Bambersky and "Cookie and Fig" Figueroa, as well as her many nieces, nephews and friends. A Life Celebration, filled with HUGS, smiles, sarcasm and treats will be held at a later date.  A Daily Catholic Mass with special intentions for Lorraine will be held at All Saints RC Church, Burlington at 12 noon , Saturday, September 12, 2020. Burial will be held at the NJ Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown, NJ. on Monday, September 21, 2020 In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Alzheimer's Association, Delaware Valley Chapter, 399 Market St., Ste 102, Philadelphia, PA 19106 or to the Burlington County Animal Shelter, 35 Academy Drive, Westampton, NJ 08060.
