Mary (Giesler) Schmid

Mary Rita Schmid of Columbus, NJ passed away at the Masonic Village in Burlington Township on Saturday, at the age of 86.

She was born in Elizabeth to the late Joseph B. Giesler and Rose Flynn Giesler and lived in Manchester, NJ for many years before retiring to Columbus. She was a longtime teacher and retired from Pemberton High School. She loved spending time with her family and neighbors, doing puzzles, and vacationing in Kissimmee, Florida. She was a devout Catholic who was a parishioner of St. Andrew’s Church in Jobstown. She was predeceased by her siblings Joseph B. Giesler, Jr. and Edward Giesler. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 47 years, Donald Edward Schmid; a son and daughter in law Robert and Olga Schmid with two grandchildren, Robert “Robbie” and Michael “Mikey”; three siblings: Francis X. Giesler, Gerard Giesler, Regina Dietrich; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Walk-thru viewings for Mary will be held at Page Funeral Home, 302 E. Union Street, Burlington on Thursday from 4:30-6:30pm and also on Friday from 8:30-9:30am. Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Friday at 10:30 am in St. Andrews RC Church, 2489 Monmouth Road, Jobstown, NJ 08041. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, located at Rt.537 and the Rt. 541 Mt. Holly By-Pass in Mt. Holly, NJ. Facial coverings and social distancing will be required for all events.
