Mary Ann Smith (nee Lentz) of Burlington Township, passed away Tuesday January 14, 2025. She was 88 years of age.
Mary Ann was born in Philadelphia and lived and went to school in Camden, NJ. She was a graduate of Camden Catholic High School. She moved to Burlington, NJ in 1956 after her marriage to Francis Adams.
Mary Ann was employed at RCA/GE (now Lockheed Martin) in Moorestown as an Executive Secretary and worked there for 32 years until her retirement from GE in June of 1991. Mary Ann was honored and privileged to be selected by Rear Adm. Wayne E. Meyer to christen the array at the AEGIS Combat Systems Engineering Development Site in Moorestown, NJ. She was also chosen to go ship riding aboard a naval training ship. She was also a proud recipient of an AEGIS Excellence Award.
Mary Ann enjoyed being with her family. She was an avid crossword puzzle solver. She enjoyed barbeques at her son’s shore home in Brigantine, playing canasta with the Canasta Club, watching classic black and white movies from the 30’s and 40’s with her sister Cass and decorating the house for all the holidays. Mary Ann believed sending a card could brighten anyone’s day. Her favorite drink was Drink A Toast (Boost). Mary Ann loved to listen to 50’s music and was a big fan of Frank Sinatra and Johnny Mathis also country singer Willie Nelson and her favorite opera singer, Andrea Bocelli and their music. Mary Ann also enjoyed watching sports, basketball with the Sixers and the Milwaukee Bucks, baseball and the Phillies and Kansas City Royals. She enjoyed watching golf and her favorite golfer Jim Furyk. Her favorite sport was football and rooting for the Eagles and Green Bay Packers.
Mary Ann has been a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Burlington since 1956 and was a member of St. Paul’s Bereavement Choir and the Bereavement Prayer Line. She also was a member of St. Paul’s Nursing Home Ministry.
She was the daughter of the late George and Edith (Sozchek) Lentz. She was predeceased by her first husband (the father of her children) Francis Adams and her second husband Walter Smith. She was also predeceased by her beloved sister Cass. She is survived by her children; daughter Diane Lewis, her son Mark F. Adams and his wife BettyAnn of Medford, NJ and her grandchildren; Jonathan W. Lewis of Maple Shade and Marino F. Adams of Medford. She is also survived by long time friend Ellen T. Lawrence-Lee of Sarasota, FL. A private family viewing for Mary Ann will be held at Page Funeral Home, Burlington. A closed casket visitation will be held Wednesday January 22 from 9:30-10:30am in St. Paul R.C. Church, 223 E. Union St., Burlington. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated beginning at 10:30am. Interment will follow at Laurel Memorial Park, Tilton Rd, Pomona, NJ. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mary Ann’s name may be made to St. Paul’s School 250 James St., Burlington, NJ 08016.
