Michael Morawa Obituary

Michael M. Morawa passed away at home surrounded by his family on March 12, 2023 at the age of 83.  The longtime Springfield Township resident was the son of the late Michael and Mary (Orlick) Morawa and was born in Passaic, New Jersey in 1939.  He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force in the 1960’s where he met his wife Evelyn Kay with whom he was married for 61 years. Michael built their family home in the late 1960’s and took pleasure in trouble shooting and tinkering with anything and everything, no job was too small to be done well.  Mr. Morawa had a diverse career, beginning as an airplane mechanic in the Air Force and National Guard, as an agent for Prudential Insurance Company and as an independent contractor renovating homes and businesses.  He then returned to the airline industry, working for People Express which was subsequently taken over by Continental, as Hanger Supervisor, where he oversaw their fleet at the Newark hub.  Upon retirement Michael discovered his passion, repairing antique clocks, a hobby that later turned into his clock repair and sales business. As a young man he was an avid bowler, even bowling a perfect 300. Later, sailing was a rewarding past time, he named his sailboat after the angel of the family, “Maryann.”  Michael often enjoyed taking the family for leisure rides to somewhere new to investigate, including numerous cross-country trips. Michael loved spending time with his family and is survived by his beloved wife Evelyn Kay; daughters Trudie Edinger of Hainesport Twp., Maryann Morawa of Springfield Twp., Theresa Morawa of Mansfield Twp., and his son Michael Morawa of Springfield Twp.; his grandchildren, Michelle (John), Nichole (Kevan), Rebecca, Cale, and Jordan and also two great grandchildren, Skylar and Matthew. A private memorial will be held at the family’s convenience. Memorial contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans at dav.org.
