Oscar Tete

Oscar Tete of Burlington, NJ, age 87, passed away at his residence on December 28, 2011. Mr. Tete was born and raised in Florence, NJ, before moving to Burlington in 1944. After graduating from Florence High School, he served his country in the European Theatre during W.W. II. He was stationed out of Belgium, England, France and Germany as a Platoon Sergeant in the U.S. Army. Prior to his retirement, Oscar was the owner of Tete's Plumbing and Heating in Burlington. He later joined Mechanics National Bank as a vice president and manager of office services. Additionally he served on the Board of Directors of Paris Business Products. He was avid sports fan, with horse-racing holding a special place in his heart. He, along with his brother, bred and trained trotters. Mr. Tete was predeceased by his parents Frank and Mary Tete of Florence, brothers Louis, Dominic, Anthony, Francis and nephew Brett Whiteside. A devoted husband and uncle, he is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Ellen Jane (Sullivan) Tete, sisters, Lena Renzo and Rachel (Fannie) Virilli, brother Joseph and cousin Charles Simmons. He is also survived by his adoring nieces, Janet Jordan and husband Drew, Darlene MacCrindle, Lorraine Moore and sister in law Frances Moore. "Uncle Oscar" was very special to his nieces children, Terry Genosky and wife Holly, Kelly Fletcher, Bryan Moore, Craig Wilson and wife Melissa as well as his nieces' grandchildren, TJ and Cody Genosky, Chase, Brandon and Ryan Fletcher and Emma and Sophie Wilson. He was blessed with many other nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank neighbors and friends who helped with Oscar's needs as well as Compassionate Care Hospice caregivers. Family and friends may pay their respects at the Page Funeral Home, 302 E. Union St., Burlington on Thursday, January 5th, from 10:00-11:00 a.m. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. followed by burial in St. Mary's Churchyard, Burlington.
