Raymond Montagano of Burlington N.J. passed away peacefully on Thursday July 24th at the age of 91. Ray was the youngest of 14 siblings. Tessarena, John, Lizzie, Daniel, Jimmy, Sam, Anna, Angelo, Emily, Josephine, Louis, Michael, John and Robert.
Ray was an exceptional athlete and was voted as an All State High School Football player in 1952 while playing quarterback, tailback, punter and defensive back. Ray served his country honorably in the U.S. Army, along with 7 of his brothers, where he achieved expert Marksmen status. After his service, he began a 39 year career as an Ironworker, with Local 68 of Trenton, and retired as a Foreman for Thomas Lindstrom Co. Ray was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman, and enjoyed crabbing in the Chesapeake and fishing in NJ and Florida with his friends and family. He was a longstanding member of the Italian American Roma Club and the Oneida Boat Club.
Son of the late Luigi and Nicolette Montagano (Nee:Marchese) and predeceased by his son Brian Montagano, he leaves to cherish his memory: his children Kim Montagano, Kurt (Suzy) Montagano, Daniel Montagano, Scott (Tina) Montagano and grandchildren: Connor, Jonathan, Matthew(Sarah) Montagano, Luke, Anthony, Dominic, great grandson Jameson, and his brother Robert.
Truly one of a kind, Ray’s charismatic personality infected all who came in contact with him. He enjoyed listening to and singing Frank Sinatra, and would jump at the opportunity to serenade anyone who would listen. Most importantly, he cherished every one of his family members and would do anything for them.
The family invites friends to his visitation and Life Celebration on Tuesday July 29th from 9-12pm at Page Funeral Home, 302 E. Union Street, Burlington, NJ 08016.
