Richard “Dickie” Craft, age 70, of Columbus, NJ passed away July 20, 2023. Predeceased by his parents, Robert and Elsie Craft, his sisters Michelle and Rosemary, and his brothers Bill and Peter, Richard is survived by brothers Paul and David Craft, as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who he considered family. Dickie grew up in Columbus where he attended Northern Burlington High School, while also working for his father’s business, Craft Family Builders, learning the trade that would serve him throughout his life. After graduating from Northern, Dickie would join the Air Force to serve his country until receiving an Honorable Discharge. Although Dickie traveled the country, working on various building projects, farms, and ranches, he always returned to Columbus, and to his family. Richard was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed being in the pines, in nature, and of course, holding his spot at the local pub, the Corner House. He was a very skilled and talented craftsman who was always willing to help out when needed, especially if the pay included a few drinks. Dickie may have had some struggles, but he lived life the way he wanted. We will all miss the particular, special way that Dickie told a story or delivered a joke. He made everyone who knew him laugh, cry, and clap at all the stories he shared, with his impeccable ability to recall details. Our family is grateful to know that Darling Dickie is finally at peace. In respect to his final wishes, there will not be any services or memorials, but rather Richard’s ashes will be scattered in his beloved Pines to join the spirit of his parents and loved ones.
