Robert A. Hoffman of Little Egg Harbor and formerly of Burlington City, passed away Monday September 4, 2023 at his residence at the age of 75. Born in Mt. Holly, Bob was a longtime resident of Burlington City before moving to Little Egg Harbor. He was a graduate of Burlington City High School and served honorably with the US Air Force in Vietnam. Bob earned the rank of Sergeant and was in the 12th Air Commando Squadron, the 12th Special Operations Squadron and he participated in operation Ranch Hand. Bob served from 1966-1972 and spent the year from 1968-1969 in Bien Hoa, Vietnam. After his discharge from the service, Bob continued to serve his community as a member of the Mitchell Fire Co. in Burlington. He worked his way through the ranks, serving as Treasurer, Chief Engineer and Assistant Fire Chief. He was also a life member of the company. Bob served as Chief of the Burlington City Fire Department in 1988. His service was not limited to the Mitchell Fire Co. He also was a life member of the Endeavor Emergency Squad, where he served as Captain. He was also a member of the Relief Fire Co. in Burlington Twp., the NJ State Fire Chief’s Assoc., the NJ State Firemen’s Assoc., the City of Burlington Relief Assoc., the City of Burlington Exempt Assoc., the Burlington County Fire Chief’s Assoc., the Air Commando Assoc., the American Legion and was a Life Member of the VFW. He also served as an Assistant Director for both the Burlington City and Burlington County Civil Defense Associations. In addition to all his volunteer work, Bob worked for Public Service Electric and Gas Co., retiring after 38 years of service. Son of the late James and Stephanie Hoffman and brother of the late James Hoffman, he is survived by his wife Cynthia (Cindy) Hoffman, his children; Robert Hoffman, Jr., Robin (Joseph) Parker, Eric (Crystal) Hoffman, Kirsten (Eric) Reed, his grandchildren; Riley Parker, Rowan Parker, Maya Hoffman, Beckett Reed and Addyson Reed. He is also survived by his sister in law Marjorie Hoffman and several nieces and nephews. A viewing for Bob will be held Tuesday, September 12th from 6-8pm and Wednesday September 13th from 10:30-11:30am at the Page Funeral Home, 302 E. Union St., Burlington. Funeral services will begin at the funeral home, Wednesday at 11:30am. Burial will follow in the Brig. General William C. Doyle Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Provinceline Rd., North Hanover.
