Ronald L. Jernigan of Delanco passed away Sunday September 24, 2023 at Care One at Moorestown at the age of 85. Born in New Kensington, PA, Ron was a longtime resident of Edgewater Park, before moving to Delanco. He was a computer programmer who retired from the State of NJ after many years of service. He was a Navy veteran who served his country honorably during the Cold War. He was an active member of the Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Burlington Twp. serving as the treasurer, a member of the choir and on various committees through the years. He was also a life member of the Beverly Road Fire Co. in Burlington Twp. and a life member of the Burlington County Fire Police Assoc. Ron loved trains and has taken rail trips across both the United States and Canada. He had a special place in his heart for animals and he enjoyed making people laugh with his witty, dry sense of humor. He was an avid recycler who made sure everything went where it was supposed to. He also enjoyed watching Penn State football games. Ron is survived by his wife of 50 years Sabra (nee Johnson) Jernigan, his son Dean R. (Shannon) Jernigan and his grandchildren Dean “DJ”, Abigail and Owen. Viewings for Ron will be held Friday September 29th from 6-8pm and Saturday from 10-11am at the Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1308 Mt. Holly Rd., Burlington. Funeral Services will begin Saturday at the church at 11am. Burial will be held privately at the Brig. General William C. Doyle Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, North Hanover, NJ. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions made to either the Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 1308 Mt. Holly Rd., Burlington, NJ, 08016, or to the Food Bank of South Jersey, 1501 John Tipton Blvd., Pennsauken, NJ, 08110 would be appreciated by his family.
