Saxon Clancy Thatcher (Hreso) (88) of Burlington Township, NJ, passed away peacefully on January 4, 2025 at the Masonic Home of Burlington in Burlington Township. Saxon was born June 5, 1936, in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, daughter of the late Edwin Clancy and Elizabeth McMullen Clancy. She married the late Robert Hreso in August of 1955 and in July of 1958 she became an American citizen. Together they welcomed four children into this world. She is predeceased by Thomas Thatcher, to whom she was married for 27 years. Saxon was the oldest of three girls of immigrant parents from Wales and Scotland with a strong Irish heritage. She retired after 30 years as executive assistant to the CEO of Lenox Corporation. After retiring from her career Saxon became the secretary of the Quaker Meeting House in Medford, NJ. Saxon was not one to back down from any fight and professed to, “stand your ground”. The word most often used to describe Saxon is “unconventional” as she claimed to appreciate animals more than people. She had a big personality, and she enjoyed engaging in conversation with anyone at any time. She absolutely loved cats and all animals, and was an avid reader and gardener. Saxon is survived by her children Karen (Scott) Schneider of Edgewater Park, NJ, Scott (Donna) Hreso of Horsham, PA, Suzanne (Kurt) Montagano of Long Beach Island, NJ, Terrence (Melissa) Hreso of Burlington Township, NJ, and step-daughter Becky (Roger) Hare of Cinnaminson, NJ, 10 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren.
