Sgt. John H. Gray, Jr "Putt-Putt"

Sgt. John H. Gray, Jr. (Putt-Putt), a proud Vietnam Army Veteran and former employee of Burlington Township Public Works Water Department, passed away at the age of 78 on January 14, 2024 surrounded by his family. John, formerly of Burlington Township, resided with his daughter, Susan, in Barrington, NJ. John was born on May 30, 1945 and was predeceased by his wife, Linda. He is survived by his daughter, Susan, his son-in-law, Andreo, and his four grandchildren, Andreo, Jr., Domenica, Aniello, and Gianina. He adored his extended family, Elvira (Aniello), Aniello, Jr. (Tara), and Gabriella, along with Steve (Kellie), Massimo, and Stefania. John’s biggest passion was surf fishing at Island Beach State Park with his buddies and spending time with them every fall in Seaside Park. Betty and Nick’s Bait Shop, Berkley’s Fishing Club, and IBSP is where you would find the guys. John was an active member of the VFW in Burlington City, the Beverly Road Fire House, and the Senior Center. John was liked and loved by so many.  As his daughter, I can’t thank everyone enough but I personally must acknowledge: The Pinto Family, for opening their home to him after returning from Vietnam. He told me multiple times how truly grateful he was. Ed Eckert and Michael Scully, who have been my dad's fishing buddies and like brothers to him for over fifty years. Thank you for always being there for him throughout the years and keeping an eye on me during his three years of illness. My dad was truly blessed and will be deeply missed. The family invites friends to his visitation at Page Funeral Home 302 E. Union St. Burlington on Wednesday from 9:00 to 10:30 am. A funeral service will begin at 10:30 am with the burial to follow in NJ Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown.
