Shirley Farmer obituary
Shirley was born October 9, 1935 in Riverside, NJ and grew up in Delanco, NJ. She was married to Howard (Pete) Farmer for 65 years.
Shirley was a gifted seamstress and ceramics artist. And she was also a marvelous cook and baker. Special memories are of Thanksgiving dinners, Sunday suppers, dinner rolls, cake decorating and PANCAKES! When her children were all well along in school, she took this skill to part-time work in the cafeteria of a local school district. She also worked for Township News Agency in Burlington for several years.
Shirley Farmer had a servant’s heart and a gift for hospitality. She reached out to help anyone and everyone who was in need. Before residing at Riverview Estates, she was a volunteer there. Shirley had many other personal ministries of service too extensive to list.
She was an active and involved member of 2 First Baptist Churches, in both Burlington and My Holly NJ, as well as Easton Bible Church.
She had a lifelong devotion to the care of her family, both immediate and extended.
She was predeceased by her parents, Benjamin and Margaret Clarke, brother Benjamin Clarke, Jr. and 4 sisters; Dolores Mosier, Marjorie Alvarez, Janet Lurty and Margaret (Peg) Wilson.
Shirley is survived by 5 children. Alan Farmer (wife Judy) of Burlington NJ, Robert Farmer of East Norriton, PA, William Farmer (wife Rose) of Reading, PA, Steven Farmer (wife Charlene) of Pine Hill, NJ and Barbara Fazzone (husband Jon) of Westampton, NJ.
She is also survived by 24 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 11am Thursday September 12, 2024 in Odd Fellows Cemetery Mausoleum 4527 US Rt. 130 South, Burlington, NJ 08016.
